More about Dr. Langlois

I have run 10 marathons in the last 6 years, most recently the 2002 Columbus Marathon, and also the 2002 Hood to Coast race, a 199 mile 12 man relay from the top of Mount Hood, to Seaside, Oregon. In this event, 1000 teams competed and our team placed 3rd in the Masters Division (with a time of 22 1/2 hours). Other marathons have included New Year City, Boston, Anchorage, Columbus, Dayton, South Bend (Sunburst) along with Traverse City and Port Huron Marathons in Michigan.

In February, 2002, I traveled to Guyana, South America for 3 weeks where I assisted my son, Bruce, with a cattle TB testing program. This program established an initial TB survey of the country, and subsequently allowed me to setup a surveillance program.

In May of 2000, I aso traveled to Guyana. During my trip, I spent 2 weeks traveling across the Rupinuni, testing free ranging cattle for Foot and Mouth Disease. I did this work as an agent for the Guyana Minister of Agriculture. As a result of this work, the World Health Organization has declared Guyana "Foot and Mouth disease free," and they no longer have restrictions on shipping beef outside the country.

I returned to Guyana in February, 2001 to work at a Wapashani Indian Village. The purpose of my visit was to restore an abandoned hospital (in the town of Ashilton) for the 5000 indians who live in a remote areas of the Rupinini.
